Sports & Watching

Where to Watch Soccer and Sporting Events in Valrico, FL

Looking for somewhere to watch soccer or the big game near Valrico and Brandon? Here's what actually makes a good sports spot, plus where locals go.

Bullfrog Creek Brewing ·

Watching the game out is supposed to be the easy part. You don’t want to cook, you want a beer, and you want to see the screen without craning your neck around a support pillar. Somehow half the places near Valrico still get that wrong.

So here’s the honest rundown on where to catch soccer, football, and pretty much any sport on the east side of Hillsborough, and what separates a real sports spot from a place that just happens to own a TV.

What actually makes a good place to watch

Forget the marketing. A good spot to watch a game comes down to four things.

Enough screens that you can see the action from wherever you sit. One TV over the bar does not count. You need angles.

The sound on for the game that matters. Plenty of places keep everything muted with the jukebox going. If you came for the match, you want to hear it.

Food and beer that show up before halftime. Nobody wants to miss a goal because the kitchen took 35 minutes on a basket of wings.

Room to actually breathe. If you have to fight for a stool 20 minutes before kickoff, that’s a long afternoon.

Hit all four and you’ve got somewhere worth driving to. Miss two and you might as well stay home with your couch and your own remote.

The big chains around Brandon

If you head west toward Brandon you’ll find the usual national sports-bar chains near the mall. They’ve got the wall of TVs and they’ll have the game on. No argument there.

The trade-off is what you’d expect. It’s loud in the generic way, the beer list is whatever the corporate office decided, and on a big game day you’re shoulder to shoulder with a hundred strangers and a wait for a table. Fine if that’s the energy you want. Not great if you actually want to enjoy the match and talk to the people you came with.

They’re an option. Just go in knowing what you’re getting.

Watching at Bullfrog

We built our taproom to be the kind of place we’d want to watch a game in. TVs you can see from the bar, the tables, and the patio. We put the sound on for the match that matters. And the kitchen runs fast, so you’re not staring at an empty table while the first half ticks away.

Soccer is a big one for us. Any World Cup match kicking off at 9 PM ET or earlier goes up on the screens, and we run a World Cup loyalty passport you can pull up on your phone while you’re here. If you’re trying to plan around a specific 2026 match, we broke down the full schedule and where to watch it in a separate post.

But it’s not just soccer. Football season, big fights, whatever’s on, we’ve got it up. And unlike the chains, you’re drinking actual craft beer made about 30 feet from your seat. Grab a Propeller Wash Hazy IPA or a Hunting River Kölsch instead of the same light lager every other bar pours.

Food-wise you’re covered too. Wings at 99 cents each during the week, smash burgers, loaded nachos, the works. And if you’re catching a day game, our lunch menu runs six picks at $7.99 every weekday from 11:30 to 4, with happy hour going noon to 5 Monday through Friday. That’s a cheap, easy way to turn an afternoon match into a full afternoon.

A few tips for game day

Get there early for anything big. Even at the easygoing spots, the good seats with the best angle on the main screen go first.

Bring the crew. Watching a match with a group beats watching it alone every time, and most places out here have room for it if you’re not waiting until the last minute.

Bring the dog if it’s nice out. Our patio is dog friendly, so the pup doesn’t have to sit in the car while you catch the second half.

If you’ve got a big group or you want to lock down a spot for a specific match, you can reserve a table ahead of time. Walk-ins are always welcome, but a reservation takes the guesswork out of a packed game day.

The short version

Brandon’s chains will get the job done if you just want a screen and don’t mind the crowd. If you want the game on with the sound up, fast food, real craft beer, and room to actually enjoy it, come watch with us. We’re at 3632 Lithia Pinecrest Rd in Valrico. Check the events page for what else is on, and we’ll see you for the next match.
